An attitude of gratitude significantly contributes to positive thinking. If you desire to achieve more in life; if you want to maximize the motivation you need for success; if you desire more contentment and peace in life, then your attitude is everything. Know this - your perspective on life is your reality. Many times, we are not even conscious of our thoughts! The encouraging news is you have the power within you to shift the focus of your thinking.

Before I share ten valuable positive attitude tips. I want you to think about the gift of appreciation. Many of our current challenges in our thinking result, because we are programmed to focus on improving, achieving, and striving towards something better. We see others who have achieved and wonder how to get what they have. How can we show gratitude and appreciation when our minds are primarily focused on what is wrong in our lives? Life has revealed that we become what we think about most. Luckily, we can chose.

For me, my thinking shifted when I suffered a serious health scare. It's funny how you can show an attitude of gratitude when you think you may not be around to enjoy what you have. Believe this - there are people who would love to have what you have. There are always people worse off then you are. If you do not believe me research less developed countries.

Unfortunately, many people only learn to appreciate their lives when crisis strikes. Better late than never....right? Luckily you do not need to wait for a crisis.

Practicing Shifting Your Focus!

Focus on..........

  • ...Forgiveness instead of anger.
  • ...Others instead of yourself.
  • ...Opportunities instead of problems.
  • ...Gratitude instead of envy.
  • ...Abundance instead of scarcity.
  • ...Today instead of yesterday.
  • ...Building up instead of breaking down.
  • ...Humor instead of drama.
  • ...Controllable things instead of uncontrollable things.
  • ...Giving instead of taking.

The common theme is focusing on positivity instead of negativity. One approach energizes you - the other tears you down. Additionally, you can build an attitude of gratitude by jotting down everything you are grateful for. Keep your list handy and refer to it often. Better yet, think about the important people in your life and note what you appreciate about them. Tell them.

As your focus shift, you will be amazed when you experience that sense of calm and contentment. In the end, you will have one more thing to be grateful for.
