Back-to-Back Killer Diets

A while back ago I was going to meet someone in person for the first time that I hoped to impress. I needed to lose about 10-15 pounds- FAST with two weeks to get rid of the excess weight hanging over my belt and was willing to do almost anything to get rid of it (funny thing about it was, I had months to lose the weight at a healthy pace but never was motivated enough to do it, lol).
On top of needing to lose all that weight, I was also pretty broke at the time, but luckily had access to the internet.
So here's what I came up with, I would jerry-rig my own 48-Hour Hollywood Diet from the various juices listed on the label of the brand name stuff. You know, it is cheaper than eating if you stick to it and after the first day you don't feel hungry anymore, so it seemed like a win-win situation to me.
I made my fake Hollywood Diet juice mix and drank the prescribed 8 glasses of water each day for the next two days. What happened at the end of day two? Three pounds down and at least seven left to go, also I wolfed down a huge plate of fresh fruit as soon as I could.
This leads us into phase two, the week-long cabbage soup diet (and yes I did also read all of those warnings about how dangerous and pointless both of these severe calorie-restriction diets can be.)
The cabbage soup diet is another calorie restriction diet, except on this one you get to actually eat food- most of which is cabbage soup. The diet offers you all of the cabbage soup that you can eat, which won't be much after about third bowl of boring food.
I made my soup with Napa cabbage instead of a regular green cabbage, this helps reduce the deadly accumulations of gas that can occur with your standard high-sulfur content green cabbage.
The first day on this diet you are also allowed all of fruit you can eat, which I eat as soon as I get up in this sort of stupor from my Hollywood diet.
Each day you get to eat a couple of other things besides all that cabbage soup. I was actually okay most of the time, but was in a sort of haze the whole time, feeling slightly weak all the time.
Despite all of the interesting spices I added to my soup, I was bored enough to break the diet on day five of the cabbage soup diet week- mostly with salad, but I did have some incredibly delicious bread too.... until I was completely stuffed.
So how does the story end, I lost about seven pounds over seven days and maybe one inch off my waist(not enough!)
Was it worth the haziness and possible damage to some organs- ABSOLUTELY! :) I've kept five pounds off three week later and found my belly a bit smaller still (jeans never lie). I am about to set out on another calorie-restricted diet tomorrow to get the rest of the pounds I wanted off... partly out of vanity, partly because I am out of money until Friday (darn economic crisis) and have an empty refrigerator.
This next diet will be more of a fast, but I just need to get to see the 145 on the scale. Like those before me, I found the moral of the story to be, these kinds of diets are a great way to kick-start a foray in long term weight loss but probably not useful if you will go back to your old ways the day after the diet ends.
