Building Self EsteemColor is Power. Wield It to Build You Up.
I found one of the easiest building self esteem techniques - focusing on my clothing. In particular, relying on the power of color. Color influences senses, moods, and associations. For instance, the color yellow makes me feel happy. Also, I love the vivid colors of tulips and roses. Many colors cause me to appreciate the beauty of something. I've always noticed how certain colors compliment a person. He/She may not be the best looking, but color adds that certain something. On the other hand, wearing the wrong colors can add to low self esteem and reinforce self depreciation. So, start building self esteem by paying attention to color! For example, when I need to speak before a group of people I prefer red clothing, because red makes me feel confident and strong. On the other hand, when I feel especially down about myself I stay away from brown and/or gray clothing. These colors make me look washed out - causing me to feel self conscious. Color and Esteem Building:
The point is, by strategically using color in your wardrobe, you can gain a confidence boost that will feed your self esteem. Also realize this, not being consciously aware of colors on your self esteem may have an adverse affect. For instance, let's say you have low self esteem coupled with a preference for black clothing. You may be reinforcing your negative mood, because you prefer to associate with the negative side of the color black - Gothic, dismal, morose. This helps feed the negativity you are already feeling. So there you have it. A simple technique to help build self esteem. See how to build self esteem tips for more ideas. More importantly try them. If one technique does not work for you then move to another one. Always remember, every effort is a step in the right direction.
