Interactionist Theory of Motivation

How Social Interactions Impact Your Motivation

The interactionist theory of motivation proposes that each person's feelings and thought processes are affected, shaped, changed, or reinforced by their social interactions with people and what happens in society. This is not one of the more well-known motivation theories; however it's huge.

In short, it is these interactionist attitudes that inspire or influence people to act in a particular way. A person interprets society based on the type of people he meets, experiences he shares with others, and develops an outlook based on these encounters.

German scientist, Max Weber, is the founder of this theory. His theory is used helped to decipher society and how it functions.
