An Idle Mind, Do or Die, Your Motivation Comes From Within
by Jennifer
Motivational saying 1) "An Idle mind is the devil's workshop" - it states that when we have no work then we keep on thinking silly thing. Sometimes we may get depressed because those silly things we accept and they lead us down the wrong path. This is why you should never be idle. Keep on working, so your mind will be well. You want to eliminate bad thoughts and this is one way to do it.
Inspirational saying 2) "Do and die" - early people used to say do or die. However its meaning now has change. This quote now means that in any condition we target should be achieved or we lose the opportunity. It dies.
Motivation saying 3)" Motivation comes from within" - it means that one should have a target in his/her mind, and should focus to hit the target. When the motivation feeling is ignited, we get various ideas to achieve our target. If we don't have motivation inside of us, then we don't get ideas to achieve our target or success.

A Quotation to Live By
by J. D Ball
(Virginia Beach)
Oliver Wendell Holmes is quoted has having said, “A man must share in the action and passion of his times, or risk having never lived at all.”
For about 40 years, this saying has helped provide me the motivation to be interested in what is happening outside my own narrow interests and become involved in important larger concerns.
While taking a college course in social psychology at the University of Virginia four decades ago, I recall first being shocked and then reluctantly accepting conclusions from social psychology research that most people would not become personally involved in crises, even when another person’s physical well being was threatened.
This series of separate research studies was published under the title question, “When will people help in a crisis?” It was discouraging to me to realize that the most common assumption of bystanders, particularly if people were alone when they learned that someone was in trouble, was that someone else would help and that the crisis really did not involve them.
Most subjects in this research concluded that it was not necessary to become involved, and so they did not. It was at about the same time that I was reading about this research that I ran across this inspirational saying from Oliver Wendell Holmes.
The saying then made an enormous impression on me. In the context of this research, I understood not only what Holmes meant but I understood his need to say it. There have been many instances in the last forty years when I have been faced with decisions about whether or not to act or speak up over something I cared about (or should care about) that involved others more than I.
It has been very helpful then to recall this saying and the social consequences of passivity. These thoughts together have led me to become actively engaged in the moment. As I now reflect on those many instances, I know my own life has been richer for not remaining a bystander.

Motivational Saying From an Unlikely Source
by Stephanie
(Bloomington, IN, USA)
"May death not be the end of all hope."
It is interesting to note that source for my favorite motivational saying of all time. It actually comes from a game by the name of "Drakengard." In this game one of the main characters, Leonard, is running straight into battle and realizes that he has no choice but to sacrifice his own life in order to save his friends. After he runs ahead of his friends he stands there and shouts out the phrase. He dies immediately afterward.
It really moved me when I first saw this scene. It was one of the most touching and memorable one-liners I had ever heard in any form of media. It was very touching to me and even though I heard this line many years ago I believe I will forever remember it.
I think that this had a really strong impact on me because I always have thought about my own immortality. I think in a way this saying does give me hope. Everyone has a loved one that has passed on. In this saying it is telling me that I should still keep my chin up and keep on going, because the hope of tomorrow will always remain. In my own death the hope of tomorrow will remain for my family and friends. Even when I'm gone, I'll still be in their hearts.

Motivational Sayings Are Great.....Period!!!
by Anonymous
If you find yourself moving through life in a zombie-like state, just going through the motions day after day, you may think that you are stuck in a rut and there is no way out. The truth is, all you need is a little motivation to get you into action, and on your way to a more exciting life.
How do you get motivated? It's simple. The first thing you must decide is what direction your life to go in. Do you want a new career? A new home? More money?
Dare to dream, and don't let that negative voice inside your head limit your dreams. Next, you need a plan of action. Write down some goals, and some action steps so you know exactly what you need to do each day. Read over your goals every day, so they stay clear in your mind. Don't write your goals in a notebook and then stuff it in a drawer; post them where you can see them regularly - in your car, in your office, on your fridge, on your bathroom mirror.
Most importantly, keep a list of motivational quotes handy. This is going to be instrumental to your success. Why? Because there will be days when you will not be motivated, will not want to continue with your dream, and you will be so discouraged you will be tempted to go on living the way you have been living in the past.
On those days, you will want to pull out your motivational quotes, and take some time to read them. It's amazing what even just 30 minutes of motivational reading can do for your spirit and your sense of well-being. Go to the park, or an outdoor café, or pick one of your favorite quiet places.
Forget whatever else has been going on in your life, and just read. Make notes on what the quotes mean to you and how you can apply them in your own life. To keep these 'dark' days from occurring too frequently, post the quotes where you can see them, just as you did with your goals.
Don't just glance over them; really understand what they are saying, and apply them to your own situation. Find out more about who authored the quotes, and learn from them; how did they achieve success? What barriers did they overcome? This will undoubtedly enlighten you to the fact that everyone goes through challenging times; what matters is how they overcame those challenges. Remember that you are no better or no worse than anyone else - if they can overcome adversity, so can you.
All it takes is motivation to move you into action!

If You Stink at Something This Motivational Saying Is For You
"If criticism could cause some to quit, the skunk would be extinct."
I had to laugh when I read this quote, because skunk literally stink every day. Here's my thoughts on this quote:
If you mess up, are not good at something, or simply going through a jacked up period in your life - it boils down to two choices. You stunk- so face it and get on with your life, or give up.
This quote reminds me that life goes on. We sacrifice potential success and get snared by the smelly sh** someone is throwing at us. Or, we look past it.

My Favorite Inspirational Saying Comes From Ephesians 4:29
by Dana
(New York)
My favorite inspirational saying comes from Ephesians 4:29 from the Bible. The verse says "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
The reason that this is my favorite inspirational saying is that it addresses how God wants people to relate to one another and it can fix a big problem in society. People treat each other really bad and some of the greatest harm comes from what people say to one another.
This verse inspires me to be really thoughtful about what I allow to come out of my mouth. I can have a positive and helpful effect upon people by following the direction of this verse. I am not to let one bad word come out of my mouth regarding another person. And what I do say is suppose to be words that build that person up according to what they need and what is best for them.
It is really a life changing concept that applies to every aspect of my life with people. I think of it every day and try to apply it to my interactions with people every day. I have it memorized and I regularly quote the verse and meditate on it.

Motivation and Bathing Don't Last
by Kim
The following quote is profound in it's message and hint of humor.
People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily. ~ Zig Ziglar
I think cleverly phrased messages are classics and that's what this quote is. It reminds us that we have to watch our motivation efforts or we can stink up our results if we slack off.

If You Expect Self Improvement This Motivational Saying Tells It Like It Is
by Kim
(Pittsburgh)
I believe there are people out there who think they can obtain self improvement by simply reading books and articles as if the information will magically rub off and make them better in whatever area they desire to change.
Following is a motivational saying that is so true. It goes: People seldom improve when they have no other model but themselves to copy after. ~ Oliver Goldsmith
To me, these motivational words remind that we must expand our horizons to find people who have achieved, or who are in the process of achieving, what we desire in life. This is important because we can possibly avoid pitfalls and/or mistakes as we take ACTION - which is a must.
We have to look beyond ourselves, and our readings and find people who are DOING.

How to Beat the High Cost of Boredom
by Fuel My Motivation
I love motivational sayings and the following is no exception:
In order to live happily and free, you may have to sacrifice boredom. It is not always an easy sacrifice. ~ Richard Bach
The Status Quo has a way of sucking us in. When it does, it can be hard to climb out. We don't always recognize it for what it is, so the above motivational quote is important.
Think about how you feel when you are bored. Why? Because it kills your dreams after a while. Instead of focusing on actions to help you achieve what you want, you're distracted.
So remember, you are the person holding the key. If you want to be happy, then make it happen. You can do it.

Why Talk Ain't Cheap
by Kim
(Fuel-My-Motivation)
Motivational Saying: Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know. ~ Jim Rohn
It all boils down to "passion." Enthusiasm, excitement, and joy are GREAT motivators.
If you can't immediately have your "passion" as your career choice, at least listen to this motivational saying and start talking about it with passion.
Before you know it, you'll have yourself pumped up to start taking action towards it.
That's motivation, baby!!

A Positive Attitude May Not Solve All Your Problems
by Katie
(Florida)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." ~ Herm Albright
Here are some positive thinking tips and tricks that can help you reach your full potential and attain all the goals you've ever set for yourself.
Create a scrapbook for your dreams and goals in life. Better yet, put up a bulletin board in your room for your goals, this way, you can always see it.
Use a lot of pictures and if you have the talent, draw what you want in life. Use ribbons, fabric, pressed flowers, whatever you can to make it as creative but still realistic as possible.
Having a visual and concrete depiction of your dreams in life makes it real to you and at the same time makes you realize that these things are within your grasp.
All you have to do is to reach out and take it, own it and believe that you are meant for this. You deserve to get what you really want in your life.
Get out of your routine and start trying out new things, things you've either always wanted to do or things that scare you. You can start by waking up an hour early so you could take another route to school or work.
Don't use the highway; instead go for a nice leisurely ride along the countryside. Go for a walk instead of taking a ride, you never know what you could meet along the way. Remember the old saying about stopping and smelling the roses? That's exactly what you should do.
A couple of positive thinking tips and tricks involve keeping a healthy body. This is another reason why you should exercise. Exercise promotes the release of endorphins, or what they call happy-hormones because they uplift your spirits and give you a sense of happiness. This also helps you relax despite all the stresses in your life.
Fall in love, don't be afraid of loving. Spread the love that you have inside of you and it will come back to you tenfold. Smile and be nice to anyone since they may also help you out. Enjoy the company of your loved ones and spend quality time together.
Enjoy life. That is the secret to positive thinking. Learn how to enjoy every single moment of your life, no matter how many problems come your way. You can do it. There are so many positive thinking tips and tricks you can try out and the possibilities are just endless because you can have fun with the ideas.
