My Best Self Improvement Resource Discover is Yoga

My best self improvement discovery is Yoga. Yoga is an ancient Indian holistic health system. The sage, Patanjali, is said to the be the father of Yoga.

Yoga not only addresses health issues but seeks to move a normal human being towards higher states of harmony and peace through its holistic approach.

Yoga helped me change my life. I used to be obese at 85 kgs on a 5 feet 7 inch frame at 28 years old. I had already started to feel the negative effects of my weight. I had recurring back pain, a bulging tummy and knee pain as my knees struggled to support the weight of my body.

I had tried to diet and exercise in vain. It was not really for a lack of trying, but a lack of discipline and motivation. I gave up too soon after trying too little. That was before I discovered Yoga.

A few months ago, I enrolled in a yoga course. We learned about Yogic Asanas - postures, Pranayama - breathing exercises, diet control, meditation and prayer. Asanas helped me to lose weight and trim my body.

Pranayama rid me of my breathing problems. Meditation and prayer calmed my senses and got me in touch with God. Yoga has made me a much better person not only physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Now I am a healthy 65 Kgs, suffer from a lot less health problems and feel energetic and more able to cope with life's travails. It has made me stronger and I continue to practice it for its varied benefits.

I recommend Yoga to people who are not only trying to lose weight, but are also struggling with any emotional upheaval, addictions, stress or health problems. It will definitely help them to overcome all these and more.

Healthy and fit people can also benefit from Yoga by strengthening their immune system and making them stronger inside and out. Yoga is the perfect tool for self improvement which will result in positive mental and physical health for people of all ages.
