Procrastination sucks...doesn't it? That's why you're looking for self motivation to conquer this formidable opponent. Unfortunately, one of the main causes of procrastination is a familiar defense mechanism meant to help you ward off danger. Something you know as fear.

Here's the thing. You hear the motivation advice, "move to action; just do it; take that first step." And yet...you remain paralyzed - held prisoner to inaction which I'm sure adds to your frustrations.

" They want the shortcuts; they want to skip the pertinent steps that all successful people take. So what happens? These people stay stuck; they stagnant; they procrastinate. Sadly, they continue to lose out on better things waiting for them.

Tips for Self Motivation

The following tips may help you hold your fears at bay and provide you the courage to move ahead any way.

  1. Plan - You know what you need to do, and you know fear is holding you back; so, dig a little deeper. Figure out exactly what you are afraid of. Once you nail it down, then brainstorm ideas to lessen the chance of failure or pain.

  2. Have Faith - Have faith in yourself. Believe you can overcome obstacles and challenges standing in your way. If you need to write an accomplishment list to remind you of your ability and success, then do it. You can reference this list to boost your confidence. Also, take a look around this Site for the many great ideas to help you move forward.

  3. Take Your Time - Don't make the mistake of placing unnecessary pressure on yourself. Unless you need to meet a specific deadline, proceed at your own pace. Go slowly....take one step at a time. Simply keep your eye on the prize and never let it go. Review the benefits and see yourself enjoying them. With each vision and step you take towards your goal....the progress you generate will spark your self motivation. From there, you'll have the ball rolling towards those goals and procrastination will crawl back into it's lear to surface another day.
